Recordings
Tozer's recordings include the 36 compact discs he made for Chandos between 1990 and 2003, at least 500 recordings of his solo, chamber, and concerto performances both in Australia and internationally, five commercially released compact discs recorded in Australia beginning with the John Ireland Piano Concerto in 1985. Prior to that, Tozer had recorded several concertos on film, including works of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. In November 1982, one of his four performances of the virtuosic Medtner Piano Concerto No. 2 at the Sydney Opera House was filmed in its entirety by the ABC, an Australian premiere performance.
The recorded Tozer Legacy includes live recordings of Tozer's performances of concertos by Bach, Bartok, Beethoven, Britten, Chopin, Corelli, Franck, Gershwin, Grieg, Haydn, Miriam Hyde, Liszt, Medtner, Mozart, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Schumann, Vivaldi, and at least two performances of the famous Yellow River Concerto recorded in China (2001 and 2002).
Among Tozer's most brilliant live recordings are the Mozart Piano Concerto No. 15 (The Albert Hall, London, 1969), Grieg Piano Concerto (Perth, 1974), Mozart Piano Concerto No. 16 (Sydney, 1981), Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21 in C (Japan), Rachmaninov-Paganini Variations (New Zealand, 1991), Schumann Piano Concerto (Canberra, 1995), Mozart Piano Concerto No. 23 and Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 3 (in the same concert, Sydney Opera House, 1996), Roberto Gerhard Piano Concerto (London, 1997), Brahms Piano Concerto No. 1 (United States, 1997), and solo works of Schnabel (Berlin 2001) Haydn, Bellini, Beethoven, Scarlatti, and Rachmaninov (Mexico City, 2001),
Lovers of fine music around the world eagerly await the release, by the ABC, of selected Tozer performances from the many hundreds of his performances, which have been collected and held in the ABC archive since 1964, as part of Australia's national musical heritage.
